CARTOON GIO

Working in the gaming industry has it's benefits, one of them being able to work with great artists. One such artist, Geoff Coates, took the time to surprise me with a caricature of me which got rounds of laughter from my co-workers. It's a little bit Danny Devito and a little Mario Corsi but it's all me. Enjoy!

WEEKEND UPDATE

Had a busy weekend involving showers and pictures (get your mind out of the gutter dirty people).

First up, Michelle threw Michelle Dall a surprise Baby shower at Bloom Spa. Seven ladies got together for an afternoon of pedicures, manicures, cake and laughs. Check out the pics HERE.

I also set up two new flickr sets.

The first set is all my pictures I've taken of THE CITY. People, streets, lights, signs, buildings and skylines. Take a look. I also joined a flickr group called 365 DAYS. Basically I have to take a self portrait once a day for 365 days. It's been 21 days and it's already getting difficult. Check it out here, and check out the progress over the next year via the link on the right!

That's it for now... more later!

OPERATION: WISDOM TEETH

Remember the post where I was complaining about the DENTIST?

And there there was the time I got a ROOT CANAL?

Well the adventure continues. This morning I had my three remaining Wisdom Teeth removed.

So this is the situation, my two left wisdom teeth are horizontally impacted (one is also infected). The top right one is still way up in my jaw and actually poking through the bottom of my sinus cavity. They are all coming out today and the operation itself will take less than 30 minutes. Nothing to worry about right?

Actually... right.

Out of everything I've ever had done to me in a surgical sense, this was the easiest thanks to two magical words... IV SEDATION. If you ever have your wisdom teeth out, take it from me, IV Sedation is your ticket to a pain free experience.

Let me take you through the last few hours: I hardly spoke all morning as I was freaked out (nothing really to be scared of but I fear the dentist so my imagination was getting the better of me). We got to the office, I sat in the chair, the nurse and doctor asked me a few questions, I cracked a couple jokes. The nurse took my Blood Pressure which ofcourse was through the roof, they gave me some oxygen, then popped in the IV needle, last thing I remember clearly is talking about Boston Terriers and then the next time I opened my eyes, I was in the recovery room with Michelle holding my hand (a nice way to wake up).

The operation was a pain free experience but the recovery so far has been hell. It hurts, there is a strong throbbing in my face (which is swollen) and a sharp pain in my left cheek from the sinus stiches. I bleed like a stuck pig so you can imaging the horror show that is going on my mouth right now. I'm still a little woozy and weak and once in a while I get light headed but the pain always snaps me back to reality. I have T3's but they don't seem to do much. Luckily, I have my wife playing Nurse and that's the best medicine I could ask for. As a support team to Michelle, I got two cats, I got tons of movies and xbox so hopefully the recovery time goes smoothly. But the pain... this is what getting hit in the face with a 2x4 must feel like.

2 dental operations down, 1 to go... The Crown.

10-20 TIME!

Since I've been shooting with the Canon Rebel Camera, I've always wanted a wide angle lense. Problem is, they are pricey sons of bitches, a Canon 10-20 is just under a grand, a Tamron is around $800 and a Sigma is about $750. Those are hefty price tags for a lens but I wanted one, I've been saving for one and as the old saying goes, "good things come to those who wait". I found a slightly used Sigma 10-20 for $500... SOLD.

Sure it's not as speedy or as flashy as a Canon lens but it's still under warranty and the Sigma warranty is for seven years! Seven years! A Canon warranty is for 1 year only. Sweetness!

Anyway... expects lots of wide angle goodness as I get more comfortable with my new toy!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY... JERK!

Every hero needs a villain and like Superman who has his Bizzaro, I have Chris Buckley. I met Buckley about 8 years ago at a Mainframe staff party and back then he was a wide-eyed animator ready to take on the world. Today I know better, you see today, I know that Buckley is a JERK!

Now I'm not talking about the Steve Martin "wild and crazy guy" kind of Jerk, I'm talking about the star wars, comic book, Bruce Campbell-loving, xbox-gaming, movie watching jerk. You see, he's much like me, he's my Bizzaro Superman.

Buckley's better half on the other hand, BROOKE, is great and she decided to throw her guy a surprise 30th birthday party last night and it was a success. Buckley was surprised, Buckley was surrounded by friends and famly, Buckley had a good time.

He's still a jerk though... Happy Birthday Jerk!!!

Check out some birthday pics HERE!!!

PRE-FLICKR PHOTOS

It's hard to believe that the was a time before FLICKR. I create these magical mystical photo sets on flickr for all who are interested to see, I know there were programs and sites that did this well before Flickr but I never used them. I was looking through my pre-flickr archives, I found some great photos from days gone by and decided to post them on flick in a set called PRE-FLICKR PICS.

Take a look and remember some classics... if you dare.

GO NUCKS GO!

Last night, Michelle attended her first Hockey Game ever. It was awesome!

But first a little history... Our first date consisted of a Hockey Game and Pizza at Michelle's house (pretty impressed - I like this girl), now I have always been a hockey fan but Michelle hasn't and even though she watches the odd game with me when the Canucks are on TV, she isn't too mesmerized by the NHL.

This year, I thought that Michelle should go to a game, experience the NHL in a stadium environment especially since she hasn't seen one at GM Place before. Surprise to me, she bought me tickets as well. Even bigger surprise, we both bought each other tickets to the exact same game. What are the odds.

We sold off one pair to friends and used the other pair last night as the Canucks took on the Stars and defeated them 2-1 in Shootouts. Needless to say, it was exciting and Michelle loved the experience so much she wants to go back. I have no problem with this.

Go Cancuks go!

2007: IT BEGINS

Good-bye 2006... Hello 2007.

What can we say about 2006... it was a hell of a year. We went to LAS VEGAS, PENTICTION, CHICAGO, TOFINO, DISNEYLAND and PORTLAND! I rode my first ROLLER COASTER ever and we welcomed SOFIA into the extended Corsi family!

Michelle and I both got TATTOOS, then I went back to get ANOTHER ONE! Michelle spent some time working in LILLOOET and up north in WHITE HORSE, while I went to the PONIES for my birthday and made a return appearance as Mr. Ambassador in another episode of TIKI BAR TV.

We survived another CALDER XMAS PARTY and we just rang in the 2007 NEW YEAR with a great shindig at Cam & Mel's!!!

With all that behind us what does 2007 have in store? More vacations, more photography and more adventures to be sure but we'll take it as it comes and enjoy every single minute of it!

Return to this blog to keep up on the highlights and until next time, thanks for reading!!!
